Seoul City – Seoul in my hands

Hosted by the Ministry of Environment and organized by the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute and Messe Awards Co., Ltd. ‘2024 Korea ESG Eco-Friendly Competition’For three days from October 10th to 12th, Gangnam-gu, Seoul COEXwas held in A total of 210 companies and organizations participated in this event, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, with ▴Carbon neutrality (new and renewable energy, environmental industry mobility) ▴Circular economy (resource circulation) ▴ESG (ESG companies, institutions and organizations) ▴Green consumption (Green products, eco-friendly construction), etc. Total Consists of 4 exhibitions410 exhibition halls welcomed visitors.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government established the ‘Seoul ESG ECO Shared Growth Minister’ and ‘Seoul Metropolitan City Joint Pavilion’ with Seoul-based social economy enterprises and social venture companies, and the ‘Seoul Upcycling Plaza Joint Pavilion’ with Seoul Zero Market participants. At the Seoul exhibition hall, 39 companies participated, including ‘Sarana District’, which won the grand prize in the resource circulation category at the 2024 Seoul Environment Awards, social venture ‘Aitrin’, and prospective social enterprise ‘Every Solution’.

‘Sarana District’introduced the ‘Earth Vending Machine’, an unmanned detergent refill vending machine that can sell 24 hours a day. ‘Aitrin’attracted the attention of many visitors by introducing an umbrella made from upcycled waste plastic and an IoT umbrella sharing service. ‘Every Solution’introduced a smart waste battery collection box that uses deep learning AI to classify batteries and foreign substances and rewards them with new batteries by paying points, and proposed building a device model that realizes the value of carbon neutrality and resource circulation.

Seoul City Carbon Neutral PolicyI was also able to see an exhibition that helped me understand. At the Resource Circulation Deposit Management Center Public Relations Center, an exhibition will be set up to provide an overview of the collection and system of the disposable cup deposit system implemented in Jeju Island and Sejong City, as well as how recovered disposable cups are recycled. We were able to see how various products using eco-friendly materials such as paper and wood, discarded banners, and waste plastic are reborn. On the last day of the exhibition, the Dasipda Research Institute’s alternative clothing consumption culture event was held. 21% partyIt was confirmed that many people are participating in the practice of sustainable clothing. It was a time to discover the value of discarded resources and at the same time realize once again the importance of individual effort and action to prevent climate change and reduce environmental pollution.
