“L’Amour ouf” achieves the 3rd best start of the year for a French film

Gilles Lellouche’s blockbuster, with a four-star cast, topped the release charts and the box office on its first day of release.

A successful bet for Gilles Lellouche. His second film as director, Fresco Love phewseduced the French public. Released on screens on Wednesday, the feature film has already attracted 143,726 spectators during its first day.

This is the third best start of the year for a French film, behind A little something extra (279,635 entries) and Retirement home 2 (186.962 entrées). Love phew ahead Le Comte de Monte Cristo (125.010 entrées).

In detail, Love phew attracted 86,658 entries on its first day. With last weekend’s previews, the total is 143,726 entries. More than 630 theaters are showing the film, which is expected to sell out in the coming days.

Fresco in the 1980s and 1990s

The film, adapted from the Irish novel of the same name by Neville Thompson, takes place in the 1980s and 1990s in northern France. It tells the love story between Jackie and Clotaire.

Jackie is a high school student, Clotaire hangs out with thugs. When the two teenagers meet, it’s love at first sight. But soon a gang leader takes Clotaire under his wing.

When a robbery goes wrong, Clotaire is sentenced to ten years in prison. Upon his release, Jackie rebuilt his life. He tries to find her while seeking revenge on those who betrayed him.

The film brings together a four-star cast: François Civil and Adèle Exarchopoulos, but also Raphaël Quenard, Alain ChabatElodie Bouchez, Benoît Poelvoorde, Vincent Lacoste and Jean-Pascal Zadi.
