Concert ranking in Salzburg: 19 bands compete in the ranking game

On October 19th and 20th, 19 Salzburg brass bands will demonstrate their musical skills at the concert competition in the city of Salzburg and once again demonstrate the high quality of Salzburg brass music. Good luck and much musical success to all participating wind orchestras.

SALZBURG. After the musically exciting summer months with colorful fairs, fun tent parties and wonderful open-air concerts, rehearsals for the upcoming performances have already begun for many music bands in the state of Salzburg.

While some are already practicing for a church concert or a St. Catherine’s Dance, others are preparing for the upcoming concert evaluation next weekend in the Mozarteum Orchestra Orchestra House in the city of Salzburg.

Musical rating game

The concert ratings are an important part of the Salzburg brass music scene and enable the bands to compete with others. The competitions also show the high quality of the Salzburg music bands. Any brass band in harmony can take part, as long as it meets the requirements of the competition rules.

After the successful concert ranking in Tamsweg in June, the next ranking game will take place next weekend, on October 19th and 20th, in the city of Salzburg. You can compete again in the two competition forms “Polka, Waltz, March” and “Concertan Literature” in levels A (easy) to E (very difficult). A compulsory piece and a self-chosen piece are then played, which can be selected in advance.

The participating wind orchestras are evaluated with a number of points and written or oral feedback by a three-person jury. This time the jury consists of: Gerhard Formanregional bandmaster of the Lower Austrian Brass Music Association, Joseph Feichter, Music school director in Bruneck in South Tyrol and Christian Kramser, state youth representative in the Carinthian brass band association. Salzburg’s state music director is responsible for coordinating the jury Roman Gruber (he doesn’t judge).
