Optimum, a manufacturer of optical sorting machines from Hasselt, is one of the three contenders for the Exporter of the Year award. The Ciner Glass factory in Lommel was named Foreign Investor of the Year. It will be announced on November 6 whether these Limburg companies will also be the final laureates of the Flanders International Business Awards 2024.
The Flanders International Business Awards reward key players in 3 categories: the best Flemish exporter, a promising start-up and a foreign investor in Flanders. There are 3 nominees each, who are considered an example of Flemish entrepreneurial spirit and high-profile international investments.
Optimum from Hasselt was selected in the Exporter of the Year category. The specialist in optical sorting machines has been around since 2017, but is already firmly on the world map. The company, with 44 FTEs and a turnover of 14.5 million, is currently active from 5 locations around the world.
And a place in Limburg also appears in the category for Foreign Investor of the Year. Turkish Ciner Glass is currently investing 600 million euros in a new production facility which – once at full capacity – will employ more than 500 workers to produce 7 million glass bottles and jars per day.
On November 6, Prime Minister Diependaele will announce in Brussels which of the 9 nominees will win the 3 awards. Thank you for Limburg!
