Two European bronzes for Navarrese judo

Eight Navarrese judokas competed in the European Cup Senior de Málagaachieving two bronze medals, a fifth and a seventh place. The bronzes came from Marta Beorlegui (Shogun) in -48 kg, and Asier Murillo (Judo Klub Erice) in -60 kg.

Beorlegui won the Frenchman Cirine Gaaloul in her first fight and in the second she fell to the Spanish Jana Cid (later gold medal); but in the repechage she managed to beat the Portuguese judoka Inés Faria and the Spanish Mireia Rodríguez, and in the fight for the bronze medal she defeated the Polish Paulina Szlachta, a victory that put her on the podium in the -48 weight category kg.

And Murillo fell in the first fight with the Dutch judoka Tibo Volleman (bronze medal), and entered the repechage beating the Frenchman Timothee Guichen, the Swiss Samuel Waizenegger and the American Joshua Yang. And in the fight for the bronze medal, the Navarrese defeated the American Jonathan Yang, adding a new medal for the Navarrese expedition. In addition, Paula Beorlegui (Shogun) finished fifth in -52 kg, after falling in the medal match against the Frenchwoman Julie Weill Dit Morey; and Francisco Javier Lassa (Pamplona Swimming) was seventh in -60 kg.
