National Assembly of Venezuela asks to break relations with Spain

Caracas. The National Assembly (Parliament) of Venezuela approved this Tuesday an agreement to request the Executive to break diplomatic, commercial and consular relations with the Kingdom of Spain, in rejection of the position of the Spanish Congress that intends to recognize the opposition candidate Edmundo González as president-elect of Venezuela.

In an ordinary session, the president of the Venezuelan Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, asked to approve the agreement of the request presented by the first vice president of the Assembly, Pedro Infante, and which was discussed as the first item on the agenda.

Rodríguez criticized that the Congress of a foreign country considers it has the privilege of interfering in the internal affairs of Venezuela, despite the fact that it has not left its borders “to attack, to attack, to interfere in the affairs of a country.”

“We have been patient, but patience runs out,” warned the parliamentarian from the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela, who insisted that the South American nation also has a “genetic mark” in the defense of sovereignty and independence.

On Monday, the Spanish Popular Party and Vox demanded that the government, from Congress, recognize the opposition candidate González as the winner of the presidential elections held on July 28.

On the other hand, Rodríguez called the high representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, an “imbecile,” after he assured international media this Tuesday that the solution to the alleged crisis in Venezuela has to arise “from pressure.” international”.
