They publish a video of a person involved in the murder of a teenager from northwest Austin

AUSTIN, Texas – Austin Police released video Wednesday showing the suspect in the murder of a teenager that happened in a northwest parking lot earlier this month.

The new video shows the subject inside a red circle outside a hookah lounge at the North Brooke Plaza shopping center at 12636 Highway 183 around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, October 1.

Witnesses told the police that the shooting happened after a conflict between a group of people.

Nathan Ockleberry, 17, was shot and died at the scene at 3:01 am. Two other men suffered gunshot wounds but survived.

The suspect, who was wearing a white baseball cap and a dark hooded sweatshirt, fled the scene in a car. Police say he was a black or Hispanic man between 25 and 35 years old.

The case is being investigated as Austin’s 49th homicide of 2024.

Anyone with information is asked to call Austin Police at 512-974-TIPS or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program at austincrimestoppers.org or by phone at 512- 472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
