People who are very overweight receive help at St. Vinzenz Hospital in Wiedenbrücke. The hospital is a bariatric center.
Rheda-Wiedenbrück (gl) – The Obesity Center at St. Vinzenz Hospital has once again been awarded the certificate as a “Competence Center for Obesity and Metabolic Surgery” after an all-day examination. The facility under the direction of Dr. The Wiedenbrücken hospital now announces Werner Grebe’s high quality.
The head physician of the clinic for general, visceral and vascular surgery spoke with senior physician Dr. Christian Rathmer and specialist coordinator Sandra Schittek had two experts at his side who not only prepared the patients for treatment and provided surgical care, but also did valuable work in aftercare.
“I am particularly proud that our comprehensive and individual support from the auditors was highlighted. We also receive a lot of praise from our resident colleagues for our dedicated aftercare, which is just as important in obesity treatment as the operation itself,” says Grebe, who was also able to receive an award as a regional specialist in hernia surgery at the same time.
Another component of the success is the close collaboration with the Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetology and Nutritional Medicine under the direction of Dr. Daniel Winter, says the press release. “This cooperation enables us to ensure holistic care for patients, especially in the case of complex metabolic diseases,” says Grebe, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary care.
After initial certification in 2021, the center has now been recertified until 2027. In addition to the quantitative requirements, such as a minimum number of 50 operations, qualitative goals and structural structures must be demonstrated. “The success of the obesity center confirms what we do. The center has developed really well and the patients agree with us,” says Grebe happily. This year, according to the clinic, more than 100 people suffering from severe obesity have decided to receive treatment at St. Vinzenz Hospital. “We are happy if we can help many people enjoy an active life again,” says Grebe.
