A few days after the major mobilization of Saturday October 12, within the framework of which several thousand people, once again, demanded the reopening of the emergency rooms at the Carhaix hospital, the management of the CHU chose to do so this Wednesday , an announcement by way of a press release, while the highly anticipated meeting of the monitoring committee for the crisis exit protocol was being held in the Quimper prefecture. This announcement concerns the reopening of beds within the medical care and rehabilitation department of Carhaix hospital, and, in no case, the reopening of the emergency department which has been so requested for months.
Two years later
According to the hospital, more than two years after the closure of the ground floor of its building, “the medical care and rehabilitation service (SMR) of Carhaix hospital reopened all of its beds this Monday October 14, 2024. A month ago, on September 13, the spotlight focused on the day hospital and the completely renovated rehabilitation center in this same department.
“Good conditions”
While recalling the missions of the medical care and rehabilitation service (rehabilitation, rehabilitation, therapeutic education), the hospital management believes that today, “any inhabitant of Central West Brittany can thus benefit from a quality hospital offering including a three-place day hospital, a “brand new” rehabilitation facility, and a 42-bed hospitalization unit. Still according to the hospital, “the mobilization and dynamics of all the actors involved, as well as the recruitment of professionals, allow this reopening in good conditions of support and care for the population, and this is an asset essential part of the hospital offer in order to meet all the needs of the territory”.
Supervisory board postponed
If this is good news for the hospital, many will undoubtedly wonder about the choice to announce it precisely on the day of the meeting of the monitoring committee at the prefecture, and the day before the meeting of the hospital supervisory board in Brest, which we also learned had been postponed due to lack of quorum. The hospital’s communications department ensures that the council is canceled “for lack of quorum for reasons linked to the constraints of everyone’s agenda”.
