Towards an improvement in the rights of people suffering from Charcot disease | solidarites.gouv.fr

During the discussion on the bill concerning the Charcot diseaseyesterday in the Senate, the minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to improving the dignity and the rights of people affected by this disease.

This text, submitted last April, addresses crucial issues, notably the reduction of delays in accessing aid and the need for effective coordination between the departmental house for disabled people (MDPH) and the reference centers for rare diseases. Currently, file processing times are too long, causing difficulties for patients and their families.

The proposal also includes a request for exceptional access to the disability compensation benefit (PCH) after 60 years, a subject which deserves particular attention for guarantee equal rights for all people with disabilities.

The minister underlined the importance of this text, which goes beyond political divisions, and called for rapid action to put an end to an unsatisfactory situation.

“The social protection model must be strengthened to effectively support people losing their autonomy, whatever their situation and the State must ensure the sustainability of the system and fairness,” recalled the minister.
