Playing their only preparatory game in Toronto (among five games), the Raptors had the last word 119-118 against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday.
Gradey Dick led the charge with 27 points, one more than Scottie Barnes. Ochai Agbaji added 16 points, one more than Jakob Poeltl. Dick (3 for 8), Barnes (5 for 9) and Davion Mitchell (3 for 6) did very well in terms of three-point shots. Poeltl grabbed 16 rebounds, Mitchell had 10 assists and Dick provided two steals. Free throws from DJ Carton brought the score to the final count, with 11.1 seconds on the clock.
The Raptors were without Immanuel Quickley, who is on a day-to-day basis due to thumb issues. RJ Barrett injured his shoulder in the first exhibition game; he’ll stay on the sidelines for the rest of the preseason games, at the very least.
The Raptors’ exhibition schedule began with a win against the Wizards at the Bell Center on October 6. Toronto lost at Washington on October 11 and at Boston on October 13. Darko Rajakovic’s group will conclude the preparatory matches Friday evening in Brooklyn.
The Raptors will begin the regular season on October 23 at home, against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics deployed their regular lineup on Tuesday. Jayson Tatum led the defending NBA champions with 24 points. Derrick White had 23 points, four more than Jaylen Brown.
