After just seven DEL games, the four-time champion EHC Red Bull Munich took former national coach Toni Söderholm on leave. First, there is an interim solution.
Munich – The four-time German ice hockey champion EHC Red Bull München separated from coach Toni Söderholm one day after the home defeat against bottom-placed Düsseldorfer EG.
Successor for Söderholm not yet in sight
First, will The previous assistant coach Max Kaltenhauser will look after last season’s playoff semi-finalists as interim coachsaid the sixth in the table. On Sunday (2 p.m.) the Munich team will play against the Pinguins Bremerhaven in the German Ice Hockey League.
“After the performances shown by what we believe to be a top team in preparation and over the course of the season so far, we have not noticed the changes that, in our opinion, were necessary after last season,” said Munich sports director Christian Winkler. It is unclear when a possible successor for the former national coach will be announced.

No longer a candidate for the title
After his time as coach of the German Ice Hockey Association selection from the beginning of 2019 to November 2022 and a stopover at the top Swiss club SC Bern, Söderholm returned to the Munich team in 2023.
