The Alexis Tsipras Institute for Peace, Justice and Sustainable Development is holding a seminar on the topic “Addressing precision, the challenges and prospects of the Greek economy“. The event will be hosted at the Municipal Theater of Piraeus, on Tuesday, October 22.
We are going through a critical period for international and European economic developments, characterized by increased uncertainty, geopolitical fragmentation and economic slowdown. The accuracy is swelling and more and more citizens are finding it difficult to meet the needs of everyday life, with the challenges for growth, work, medium and small entrepreneurship, becoming more and more apparent.
Who will speak?
The need for credible progressive reforms and sectoral policies for sustainable development, social justice and resilience is imperative. In this context, the former Deputy Minister of Economy Giorgos Chouliarakis, who will open the conference, will refer to the challenges and perspectives of the Greek economy.
George Ioannidis will present KEPE research on “Estimation of the Consumer Price Index for households based on their income”. At the same time, Stratos Fanaras and Yiannis Balapanidis will present research by Metron Analysis on “Accuracy and cost of living”.
Experts from the field of energy policy (Efistimi Oikonomopoulou, Lawyer – Clifford Chance) and housing policy (Thomas Maloutas Professor Emeritus, Department of Geography, Harokopion University and Maria Karagianni – Housing Programs Major of Thessaloniki), as well as the Director of the Institute ONE Takis Korkolis, they will refer to the importance of addressing accuracy and inequalities by promoting policies that defend public goods and services, while ensuring conditions of healthy competition in the market against cartel practices.
In the second section of the event, three former Ministers of Economy of progressive governments will discuss, who will present their proposals for convergence with the EU, tackling the crisis of precision and sustainable economic development.
The candidate for Prime Minister of the New People’s Front, Lucie Castets, will intervene in the discussion, who will transfer the experience from France and will refer to the prospects of developing a government program in Europe, today, that unites the progressive forces.
The event will close with a speech by Alexis Tsipras.
