Zelenskyi will soon present his winning plan
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi is about to unveil his much-talked-about victory plan on Wednesday, October 16, reports the Kyiv Independent.
The winning plan is to be presented during a speech to the Ukrainian parliament. However, not all the details will be published tomorrow either. The most sensitive information can only be seen by party leaders.
The five-part victory plan has so far only been presented to some of Ukraine’s allies, such as the leaders of the United States and various European states.
However, the presented victory plan has not aroused great feelings among the allies. According to the news agency Bloomberg, the reception has been mostly tepid.
Sources who spoke with Bloomberg say that the plan does not contain any breakthrough proposals that would end the war, and it has also been described mainly as Ukraine’s “wish list”.
So far, it has been reported that the content of the plan would have mentioned at least the situation in Kursk and Ukraine’s desire to lift restrictions on the use of long-range weapons.

Media: North Korea sent 10,000 soldiers to Russia
North Korea has sent 10,000 soldiers to Russia to facilitate the country’s war efforts in Ukraine, reports the Kyiv Independent citing a Western diplomatic source.
According to a diplomatic source, at the moment it is still unclear what role the soldiers will play in the case.
Russia and North Korea signed a strategic partnership agreement last summer, which includes a clause on mutual assistance similar to NATO’s fifth article.
At the time, North Korea announced that the country’s pioneer unit would join Russian forces in Donetsk. The Kyiv Independent points out that no evidence of this transfer has yet emerged.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said this week about Russia’s intentions to involve North Korea directly in its war in Ukraine.
– The alliance between governments like Russia and North Korea is growing. It’s not just about arms transfers anymore. It is actually about transferring people from North Korea to the occupying military forces, Zelenskyi said

The dwindling support of Western countries binds Ukraine’s fate to the US presidential election
The future of Ukraine is at stake as the support of Western countries fades, estimates the British defense and security think tank RUSI (Royal United Services Institute) in his recent article.
According to the think tank, despite decades of discussions, Europe is still too lulled by the generosity of the United States in matters related to defense.
Now, as a result, Ukraine’s success is tied to the US presidential election in November. Donald Trump, the presidential candidate of the Republican Party, has promised, after winning the election, to make peace in Ukraine even before he officially takes office.
Many parties believe that this means forcing the parties to the war to the negotiating table, where Ukraine’s trump cards are weak in the prevailing front situation.
The article published by RUSI was highlighted, among other things, by the country’s former Minister of Economy, who had just returned to Ukraine Tymofiy Mylovanov.
– RUSI’s article is softer than the reality in Kyiv and throughout Ukraine. Just yesterday, Russia hit Zaporizhzhia, an important civilian city, with seven guided bombs, each weighing more than a ton. This is not a front line, but an attack on civilians, Mylovanov wrote on social media service X.
Mylovanov talks about a conversation he had in London in a thread he published, where the interlocutor bluntly told Mylovanov that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi must be forced to the negotiating table, even if he is threatened with withdrawing support.
– I don’t think this reflects the view of the majority yet, but the fatigue of Western countries is palpable. Many just want the war in Ukraine to go away, Mylovanov wrote.
Mylovanov’s comments and Rusi’s article were first reported in Finland by Verkkouutiset.

Prison sentence for a French citizen in Russia
A Moscow court convicted the Frenchman Laurent Vinatierin for three years in prison, says the BBC’s Russian-language service.
Vinatieri was accused of collecting information about Russian military activities and was not registered as a “foreign agent”. He pleaded guilty and regretted his actions in court.
According to the indictment, in 2022-2023, Vinatier met with three Russians, from whom he collected information about “business launch, combat training and the political situation”.
According to Russian criminal law, those who collect unclassified military information must register themselves as “foreign agents”.
Vinatier is a doctor of political science who worked at a Swiss research center specializing in conflict resolution.
French President Emmanuel Macron called Vinatieri’s conviction a disinformation campaign by Russia.
