The Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev and the Ambassador of France to our country, H.E. Joel Meyer, held a meeting where they discussed the possibilities for promoting Bulgaria among French citizens.
Petya Dimitrova, economic attaché of the French Embassy in Bulgaria, as well as Vesela Todorova-Mozettig, director of the French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBTIC) also took part in the conversation.
Minister Miloshev expressed his desire for Bulgaria to host a business forum in the field of tourism that would attract French tour operators, journalists and influencers. The purpose of the event is for potential new partners to familiarize themselves with the various opportunities for tourism that our country offers.
Ambassador Meyer emphasized that Bulgaria has excellent conditions for the popular forms of tourism among the French – sports, culture and cuisine. “Bulgaria has an advantage over a number of other destinations because there is no overtourism here, which guarantees quality,” he noted.
In order to increase the popularity of Bulgaria as a tourist destination, Minister Miloshev proposed general actions to identify suitable French celebrities and opinion leaders in social networks and the media to talk about the country’s history, culture and opportunities.
As an example, he pointed to the successful partnership with Prof. Bethany Hughes and the BBC, whose films about Bulgarian history reach millions of viewers worldwide.
During the meeting, Petya Dimitrova presented the activities of the French travel agency Atout France, which has offices in over 30 countries.
The director of FBTIK, Vesela Todorova-Mozettig, added that next year will mark 25 years since the establishment of the Chamber, which is a good opportunity to promote Bulgaria among their partners.
