Dyankov joined the Supervisory Board of VTB, which has a stake in KTB –

/ world today news/ Former Finance Minister Simeon Dyankov has been elected as a member of the Supervisory Board of “Vneshtorgbank” /VTB/, one of the three largest banks in Eastern Europe, which also owns shares in Corporate Commercial Bank.

The decision to appoint Dyankov, who is currently rector of the prestigious Russian School of Economics, was made at the General Meeting of Shareholders, which was held yesterday in St. Petersburg. The annual report of the financial institution was approved at the meeting, and a new Supervisory Board consisting of 11 people was also elected. Among them, in a non-independent capacity, is the former Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

VTB operates in a number of countries around the world, including Bulgaria, where its partner is Tsvetan Vasilev’s bank. The main assets of the Russian financial institution in our country are in “Vivacom” and “Bulgartabac”. In the spring of this year, information appeared that VTB was exiting the capital of the tobacco holding.

Earlier today, the Corporate Commercial Bank sent a letter to the Bulgarian National Bank, in which it informed about the exhaustion of liquidity and suspension of payments, as well as of all types of banking operations. KTB was placed under special supervision.

At a press conference, BNB governor Ivan Iskrov announced that KTB was not bankrupt and depositors should not worry. He warned “not to push our house unnecessarily” and emphasized that “many countries are envious of the state of the Bulgarian banking sector” because of its stability.

The governor of the BNB announced that there is already a declared interest in buying KTB. According to well-informed sources, it is about interest shown by the Russian VTB, of which Simeon Dyankov is a member of the Supervisory Board.
