The new version of Google’s mobile operating system, Android 15, brings several features to Pixel smartphones, particularly for photography and security.
Announced last May, Android 15 is now available on Pixel smartphones. Deployed this Tuesday, October 15, this new version of Google’s mobile operating system brings several features, in particular to contribute to user security.
Among the new features is the “Theft detection lock” function. Tested so far in Brazil, it uses artificial intelligence to protect data in the event of the smartphone being stolen. Concretely, if it detects that the phone has been snatched by someone trying to escape, the device automatically locks.
Safety, photography and seasonal allergies
With Android 15, users of a Pixel smartphone will also be able to hide sensitive applications (banking, dating, etc.) in a private space, in order to make them invisible to others. They will be protected by a separate PIN code.
Android 15 also brings some new features for photography, to take better photos, according to Google. Thanks to the astrophotography function, which benefits from an update, users will be able, for example, to take “superb photos” of the stars with Night Vision mode. It can be used to capture other events in the night sky, such as the Northern Lights.
On the video side, a Magic Eraser will reduce annoying sounds, such as wind blowing, in their content. They will also have the ability to increase or decrease specific sounds using new editing functions.
Finally, among other new features, users suffering from seasonal allergies will be able to obtain pollen tracking in the Pixel Weather application, and thus consult current pollen index levels, pollen types and forecasts before going out.
