The Russian Federation will be able to attack the territory of NATO member countries in the next 6 years.
This opinion was expressed by the head of German intelligence, Bruno Kahl.
He added that he sees a direct military threat from Russia, n-tv reports. “By the end of this decade at the latest, Russian troops will be able to attack NATO,” Kahl predicted at a hearing in the Bundestag, “Focus” quotes.
He noted that “the Kremlin sees Germany as an enemy” because it is the second largest country supporting Ukraine in its war against Russia. “We are in direct conflict with Russia,” he pointed out.
Kahl added that Putin is not only concerned about Ukraine, but “actually about creating a new world order.”
The head of the country’s counterintelligence, Thomas Haldenwang, also spoke at the hearing, indicating that his agency “monitors aggressive actions by Russian intelligence services,” BILD reported.
He stressed that Russian espionage and sabotage in Germany was increasing “both qualitatively and quantitatively.”
The head of the military counterintelligence service, Martina Rosenberg, said the number of attempts to spy on critical infrastructure had become “alarmingly” high.
“Russian spies focus on the supply of German weapons to Ukraine, the training of the German military, the production of weapons or sabotage to create a sense of insecurity,” she said.
