NATO will not be intimidated by Russian threats, Putin will not get his way

NATO will not be affected by Russia’s bullying tactics – the group will continue to strongly support Ukraine. This was confirmed by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in a speech at Clay Barracks, the American base where the headquarters of the new mission to support Ukraine (NSATU), reports. Reuters.

“The message (to Russian President Vladimir Putin – ed.) is that we will continue, we will do everything necessary to ensure that he does not get his way, that Ukraine wins,” Rutte said.

NSATU will gradually take over the coordination of Western military aid to Kyiv. The move is widely seen as an attempt to protect the aid apparatus from returning NATO critic Donald Trump to the White House. At the same time, some diplomats admit that this could have a limited effect, since the US supplies Ukraine with most of its weapons and is the main power in the ‘ alliance.

NSATU will have a total strength of approximately 700 personnel, including troops based at military headquarters in Belgium and logistics centers in Poland and Romania.

In addition, the Wiesbaden base will host the US unit responsible for the long-range missiles used by Washington in Germany for a period from 2026. In his first visit to Germany as NATO secretary general, Rutte welcomed the move but there were threats and criticism from Russia.

“We are NATO. We are a defense alliance, we do not attack. We are not interested in taking over any other country outside the borders of NATO. As an alliance democratic, the strongest alliance in the history of the world, serving a billion people, we are ready to face any threat.
