Kémi Seba apprehended in Paris: the first revelations about his arrest

Burkinabe justice had already condemned the polemicist

Franco-Beninese activist Kémi Seba was arrested today in Paris, around 2 p.m., while he was having lunch in a restaurant in the 15th arrondissement with his right-hand man, Cyrille Kamden.

According to exclusive information collected by “Afrique Confidential”, Kémi Seba was apprehended when leaving the restaurant. He will spend the night in police custody while authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding his arrest.

A stay in France after Spain

Arriving in Paris on October 10 from Spain, Kémi Seba allegedly used a Nigerien diplomatic passport when entering French territory. The French authorities have not yet officially communicated the exact reasons for this arrest.

Founder of the NGO Urgences Panafricanistes, Kémi Seba is an emblematic figure of the pan-Africanist and anti-colonialist movements. He is known for his radical positions against Western influence in Africa, notably through his campaign against the CFA franc. Several times arrested and expelled from different African countries, Seba continues to arouse controversy with his virulent actions and speeches.
