Next Saturday, October 19, the Cusset barracks in Villeurbanne will host the second edition of the Cord’Acier Firefighters Challenge, a sporting event not to be missed for all those who love challenges and are passionate about their profession fireman The principle of this competition? Climb the largest ropes using arm strength alone in 15 minutes and in teams of 5.
The challenge takes place in two parts: an individual event and a team event. In total, 180 people – including 5 women -, divided into 36 teams, including 30 teams from the Rhône and others from northern Isère, will take part in this competition. The firefighters must put their mastery of rope techniques to the test, all in the spirit of loyalty and surpassing their own.
For the individual speed event, women will have a female classification; on the other hand, for the general event, they will be integrated into the teams in the same way as the men, with the same rules and the same restrictions.
Open to the public, this event is an opportunity to get to know the world of firefighters and observe their technical knowledge. Viewers will also have the opportunity to chat with the teams and find out about the different aspects of this essential role.
The Cord’Acier Challenge is part of a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening cohesion between the different fire brigadeswhile sharing with the public the reality and challenges of their work.
