Zelensky: Ukraine is facing Russian attacks in Kursk for the fifth day

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Monday that Ukrainian forces continue to fight attempts by Russian forces to enter the defense lines in the Kursk region on the side western Russia for the fifth day in a row.

Zelensky said that Russian forces dropped about 900 glide bombs over Ukraine last week, as well as 40 missiles and 400 drone strikes. The Air Defense Ministry said 31 Russian drones were shot down on Sunday, with 68 drone attacks recorded overnight.

Zelensky urged the Western partners to provide quick support to face the Russian war, stressing that they do not need to waste time in sending support. “Our partners have the ability to provide the required quantity and quality of air defense systems,” he wrote on the “X” website.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Sunday that it had taken control of a town in eastern Ukraine as it approached the important city of Pokrovsk, which increased pressure on the Ukrainian forces defending the city of Pokrovsk, which is a critical point in the conflict. At the same time, Kiev said it stopped a wave of Russian attacks on a strategic area.

The war between Russia and Ukraine began on February 24, 2022, when Russia launched a major offensive against Ukraine following a massive military buildup in the country’s northern, eastern and southern regions.
