Earthquake zone
After the earthquake in question, Prof. Dr. Yovgun Ahmet Ercan published a statement on the subject.
“The earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale registered at 03:14 in the Afyon-Sinanpaşa earthquake zone is important.
It can trigger other tremors in the area. The Simav fault and the tension along the Afyon-Aksehir line could trigger a magnitude 7.2 earthquake in the area.
Thermal springs and hot springs in the area indicate the vitality of (geothermal) fissures. They are very active,” he warned, as quoted by “Maritsa”.
