A stage will be held to honor and inherit the musicality of ‘Hong Nan-pa’, a pioneer of modern music.

In particular, this year, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Hong Nan-pa’s first Korean violin recital, ‘Verdi Requiem‘, which is considered the most magnificent of the requiems, will decorate the autumn evening.

The 56th Shipwreck Memorial Concert ‘Verdi Requiem’ will be performed at the Gyeonggi Arts Center Grand Theater at 5 p.m. on the 19th. The Nanpa Music Festival, which has been running for the past 55 years, has been held in the second half of each year based on August 30th, the memorial day of Hong Nanpa.

In this concert, hosted by the Gyeonggi Provincial Music Association and sponsored by the Gyeonggi Arts and Crafts Association and the Shipwreck Memorial Association, Oh Hyeon-gyu, president of the Gyeonggi Provincial Music Association, will take the baton, and four outstanding vocalists and a 100-member joint choir will present an overwhelming performance.

In the performance, soloists such as soprano Hyun-joo Park, mezzo-soprano Ah-kyung Lee, tenor Beom-ju Lee, and bassist Jeon Seung-hyeon, along with choruses from the Gwangmyeong City Choir, Dongducheon City Choir, and Gijeon Concert Choir, meet the audience. Additionally, the Gijeon Philharmonic Orchestra, composed of members of the Gyeonggi Provincial Music Association, will appear.

Verdi’s Requiem is considered a masterpiece among the many operas he composed. Verdi composed this song to commemorate the deaths of the great men he admired, the 19th century Italian opera pioneer Gioachino Rossini and the great Italian writer Alessandro Manzoni.

It is a song that breaks away from the religious music format and gives the feeling of listening to a dramatic opera, with the powerful sound of a large orchestra and chorus impressive. In particular, it contains a message about ‘human fate’.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Music Association decided to stage Verdi’s Requiem, which is considered the most outstanding of the Requiems, in order to remind people of Hong Nanpa’s musical beliefs and promote the excellence of Nanpa’s music.

On this stage, Verdi’s complete Requiem, symbolizing eternal rest and peace, will be performed. A total of 7 songs will be performed on stage, including ‘Give me eternal rest’, ‘Day of Wrath’, ‘Dedication’, ‘Holy Thou’, ‘Lamb of God’, ‘Eternal Light’, and ‘Save Me’. It is planned.
