Three nationals of Guinea Conakry, who were found in possession of seven hundred and ten diamond stones, are awaiting trial in Angola.
Angola’s Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) seized 710 diamond stones of different carats in the town of Lucapa, in the northeastern Angolan region of Lunda-Norte, on Sunday.
The SIC spokesperson in Lunda-Norte, Graciano Lumanhe, said that three citizens of Guinea Conakry were in possession of the diamonds.
Agents also found a diamond scale, two calculators, magnifying glasses and a sieve, as well as cash, $860 and 68,000 kwanzas, during the undercover operation.
The evidence was handed over to the Attorney General’s Office with a view to opening a criminal case against the three suspects.
