Start the 080 Barcelona Fashion

The modernist venue of Sant Pau wakes up today in all its glory to receive a new edition of the Catalan catwalk. The 080 Barcelona Fashion consolidates itself for another year as a diverse fashion week, dedicated to sustainability and circular fashion, as well as increasing the seal made in Spain on the international scene.

The Minister of Business and Work, Miquel Sàmper; The general director of Comerç, Marta Angerri, and the fashion head of CCAM and project manager of 080, Marta Coca, inaugurate this Monday the 34th edition of Catalan fashion week. A few days for which Coca predicts a greater presence of foreign media.

“Regarding the requests for assistance from international profiles – press and influencers, among others – before the edition begins we can already confirm that we have doubled the number compared to last year,” explains the director of 080 Barcelona Fashion, who points out that this figure may grow, as it did the previous year, during the days.

Over the next four days, the space will host initiatives such as TextMeeting, a round table in which the sector will reflect on digitalization and the accelerated development of AI, as well as 5G and the rise of big data . Additionally, encouraged by its commitment to education and the need to collaborate with other institutions, 080 will present this Tuesday the finalists of the With Love Halston Fashion Scholarship program. A presentation organized by the IED of Barcelona, attended by Lesley Frowick, niece of the designer Halston and president of the foundation that honors the renowned couturier, as a star guest.

But the real stars, and the main attraction of Catalan fashion week, are on the catwalk. This year there are 24 fashion brands that will present their proposals for the next season over these four days.

Many of them are already iconic in these days of fashion and their extensive career in the industry precedes them. This is the case of Custo Dalmau, who has participated in these events since the first edition; Lebor Gabala, a reference in the industry for its high-end fabrics and timeless patterns, and also Escorpion, All That She Loves, Guillermina Baeza or Lola Casademunt by Maite.

These design giants are joined by well-known talents that are currently very well known on the national scene, such as Carlota Barrera – who shows through her outfits that fashion without gender or codes is possible –, Nathalie Chandler, Habey Club, Paolo Leduc or Simorra, the latter, synonymous with elegance and tradition in Catalan fashion.

The third and final pillar of the fashion show program is made up of emerging faces. Firms such as Madridmanso, Fatima Miñana, Alsedà and Reparto are presented this year as debut brands to contribute that desire to discover new talents and innovate that every fashion week should aspire to have.

After four days of intense catwalk, 080 Barcelona Fashion will end with its great bet: circular fashion. “080 Reborn is our own content. We must raise awareness among the population about the need to achieve a hybrid consumption model or pattern between first and second hand. We cannot continue increasing manufacturing on a global scale because, no matter how many circular fashion initiatives we carry out, waste management is immense,” says Marta Coca.

Thus, with the focus once again on sustainable fashion, the parade of second-hand pieces called 080 Reborn will close the Catalan catwalk on Thursday night and will do so by launching an important message of awareness towards the population.
