Hude/Hundsmühlen – The higher-class district table tennis teams were unable to tear up any trees at the weekend and suffered one defeat each. Oberliga team TV Hude was left behind in Marklohe and association league team Hundsmühler TV lost in their own hall against Oldenburg TB III.

Oberliga men

SC Marklohe II – TV Hude 7:3. The Huders sold well within their means. “That’s a fair result, unfortunately nothing more was possible,” summed up TVH player Joshua Martin. Since Hude’s frontman Peter Igel was injured again and had to postpone his season debut again, the guests’ hands were tied. Marco Stüber from the third team traveled to the Nienburg an der Weser district as a substitute.

In doubles, Pierre Barghorn and Joshua Martin shone with a 3-1 win against Max Kulins and Dennis Lau. Florian Henke and Stüber were powerless against Roberto Filter and Nikolai Marek at the next table. After that, Marklohe largely dominated the action. With two exceptions: Both Joshua Martin against Lau and Henke against Kulins managed to win once each with 12:10 in the fifth set and make the overall defeat more bearable. “We would have liked to have played with a better line-up, especially in this game against a team from the middle of the table, to perhaps take something away,” said Martin. With 0:6 points, TV Hude is still last. The first home game is scheduled for two weeks against Sportfreunde Oesede.

Men’s Association League

Hundsmühler TV – Oldenburger TB III 4:9. In the hall on Rosenallee, the duel was somewhat disappointing from Hundsmühler’s point of view. First, the HTV set the tone and took a 2-1 lead in its season premiere after double victories from Mathis Albers/Johannes Siepker and René Clauß/Felix Hellhoff.

Afterwards, only Alexander Wreden and Hellhoff left the table as winners. All other singles were secured by the guests, who only showed weaknesses in the lower pairs cross. “The first game of the season is always difficult and the OTB could not be defeated for us in the upper and middle pairs,” explained Hundsmühlen’s number one Marek Janssen. “We’re attacking again in Sittensen,” he said, looking ahead to the game on October 26th against the third-place team.
