(ANSA) – MILAN, OCTOBER 13 – The owner of a villa in Cinisello Balsamo in the Milan area has died, buried by the collapse of an embankment of an excavation in his home garden. According to an initial reconstruction, the 61-year-old man went to check the situation due to water infiltration in the underground garage, but unfortunately the tunnel that he apparently dug himself was unstable and the earth collapsed. The episode occurred around 5pm. The immediate rescue efforts of several fire brigades and ambulances proved useless. A complex rescue operation was carried out – in via Alessandro Volta 66 – but it was immediately clear that the man’s condition was critical. Specialists from Urban Search And Rescue (Usar) and the dog unit also intervened to try to locate him in good time. The teams worked frantically at the risk of their safety. After more than an hour the Saf group staff found the man unfortunately lifeless. (HANDLE).
