Warning from WWII, these are Russia’s nuclear target countries

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Russia has warned against proliferation by opposing powers by launching a new revised nuclear doctrine. Where Moscow lowered the threshold for the country’s nuclear communications.

Previously revised rules outlined by President Vladimir Putin said an attack on Russia with the “participation or support of nuclear forces” would be seen as “their joint attack on the Alliance of the Russia”, apparently responding that Ukraine could attack targets deep inside. Russian land uses long-range weapons provided by Western allies.

The founder of the Center for International Interaction and Cooperation, Alexey Malinin, said that Russia does not want to use nuclear weapons, because it understands the seriousness of the consequences of conflict by using such weapons.

“However, today, our country must respond to the increasing threats that are aimed at us. “The West continues to supply Ukraine with weapons, including F-16 fighter jets and long-range missiles such as ATACMS (made in the USA),” he said, as to say oh Al JazeeraSunday (13/10/2024).

“In addition, NATO is developing its infrastructure around the borders of Russia: new units are being created in Finland,” he explained.

He said that while Russia was trying to avoid the use of nuclear weapons, Moscow had to “prove” that it was ready to defend its “integrity and sovereignty” in every possible way.

However, Kremlin critics worry that Putin is getting close. If not a nuclear apocalypse, then at least a regional humanitarian disaster.

“The Soviet Union said they would not attack first… Now Putin says they will attack whenever they want,” wrote exiled politician Leonid Gozman in his ‘ newspaper. Novaya Gazeta.

He clearly had no moral qualms about using nuclear weapons, the understanding that it was a step towards the destruction of the planet was shared by (Soviet leader Nikita) Khrushchev and (Leonid) Brezhnev .

“He really didn’t care how many Ukrainians would die, and how many of them and his own soldiers would later die of radiation sickness,” he said.

During the Cold War, both Washington and Moscow operated on the principle of mutual annihilation, the understanding that a nuclear attack from one side would trigger the same response, leading to nuclear conflict and mass destruction on a global scale.

However, Putin warned that Russia would use nuclear weapons in response to an “urgent threat to our sovereignty”. This refers not only to nuclear attacks, but also to conventional attacks.

For reference, the United States, Ukraine’s most important ally, is the second largest nuclear power in the world, with 5,224 warheads compared to Russia’s 5,889.

Washington has recently given the green light for additional aid to Ukraine, but permission to use US-supplied weapons has not gone beyond what was previously agreed upon.
