English they faced no major hurdles when facing Finland in the ongoing series UEFA Nations League. England took a three-goal lead before winning by a final score of 3-1.
England visited Finland in the match at the Olympiastadion, Helsinski, on Sunday (13/10/2024). Jack Grealish, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Declan Rice scored one goal each for the Three Lions. Meanwhile Attu Hoskonen scored a consolation goal for the home team.
This victory marked England’s comeback after their stunning defeat of Greece three days ago. England are now second in League B Group 2 with nine points from four games, the same as Greece, who have played three games so far.

Finland are at the bottom without a point, behind Ireland with a collection of three points from three games.
England dominated the game after the start. The deadlock was broken after 18 minutes of the match. Jack Grealish opened England’s lead.
Angel Gomes followed up Grealish’s partnership with Trent Alexander-Arnold with a superb pass. Grealish was free in the penalty box, then finished easily in a one-on-one situation.
England lead 1-0 over Finland.
Finland countered after England lost the ball. Topi Keskinen sped down the left wing, but his shot missed the target after being challenged by several other players.
Filandia missed a golden chance to level the score. From a long ball, Benjamin Kallman’s head found Frederik Jensen in front of the box. Unfortunately, Jensen’s limit bounced.
Before half time, Finland threatened again. Rasmus Schueller sent a ball through to Kallman, who followed it up with a shot inside the penalty box. Dean Henderson was still quick to catch the ball.
England put a lot of pressure on the Finnish defense after the break. However, the second goal that England was waiting for did not come until the 74th minute.
A foul forced the referee to award England a free kick in a dangerous position. Alexander-Arnold stepped up as an executioner, then fired a right-footed shot into the top corner of the Finnish goal, which Lucas Hradecky was unable to block.
England increased the score 2-0 on Finland.
Declan Rice took England beyond Finland after scoring less than 10 minutes later. Ollie Watkins combed the left wing before unleashing a low cross.
Rice quickly slotted in at the near post to make the score 3-0.
Finland finally scored in the 87th minute. From a corner kick, Leo Walta’s pass into the center of the penalty box was finished by Arttu Hoskonen with a hard header. Finland narrowed the score 1-3.
