The former tennis player Garbiñe Muguruzaknown for her impressive career in world tennis, has begun a new chapter in her personal life. The two-time Grand Slam champion got married with his partner of three years, Arthur Borgesin an intimate ceremony held in Spain last weekend. The couple, who met in 2021 during Muguruza’s participation in the US Open in New York, have shared their love story described by the athlete herself as a “total movie.”
The meeting between Muguruza and Borges seems straight out of a fairy tale. According to the athlete herself, while she was walking near Central Park, a boring day in New York became memorable when Borges recognized her on the street and wished him luck for the tournament. This gesture was enough to light the spark between them. In an interview with the magazine Hello!Muguruza recalled that moment: “My hotel was near Central Park and I was bored, so I thought I should go for a walk. I go out and I suddenly meet him on the street, he turns around and says ‘good luck at the US Open’. I was thinking ‘wow, he’s so handsome.'”
The romance blossomed quickly, and in 2022, the couple got engaged in Marbella. It was only a matter of time before this idyllic city was also the scene of their nuptials on October 5 of this year.
