Mexico City. Minister Juan Luis González Alcántara Carrancá admitted to processing this Tuesday the controversy promoted by the government of Guanajuato against the reform of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (PJF).
It is the first time that the Court admits a controversy against a reform of the Constitution. The appeal was filed by the former governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue, as one of the last acts he did in his administration, which ended on September 26.
“The petitioner is considered to be presented with the personality he holds and the claim he asserts is admitted for processing, without prejudice to the grounds of inadmissibility that may be reliably noted at the time of issuing the sentence,” it was reported today in lists of the Court.
With the admission of the controversy, the minister did not issue precautionary measures ordering the suspension of the effects of the reform in favor of the promoter, in this case from Guanajuato.
To prepare the project, Minister Juan Luis González will request reports from the Congress of the Union, 23 local legislatures and the federal Executive – as defendants – so that they defend the reform.
