Before the match it was quiet in the 7/11 Stadium. The deceased former footballer Johan Neeskens was commemorated with an impressive minute of silence. The Superboeren then kicked off with a slight delay. Shortly after the first whistle, the Doetinchem team fell behind in the fifth minute due to a special variant of a free kick for the Witte Leeuwen. Strong striker Zakaria Eddahchouri cleverly ran down the left side and managed to shoot the ball in front of Joshua Smits’ goal. Unfortunately, Rowan Besselink pushed the ball over the line, giving the home team the lead.
After falling 1-0 behind, the Superboeren seemed a bit shocked by Telstar’s goal and played sloppily halfway through the first half. Yet Jesse van de Haar managed to level De Graafschap with a long shot. The Superboeren did not have to wait long for the next opportunity, because in the 34th minute basic player Ralf Seuntjens took the lead. An impressive kick in the intersection from a corner provided the 1-2 lead.
The second half started a bit cautiously on both sides. Halfway through the second half, De Graafschap managed to break through Telstar’s defense a little more, resulting in a few chances. An outstanding substitution on De Graafschap’s side was the return of El Jebli, who entered the field for the Doetinchem team for the first time after five years in the 66th minute. Ultimately it was Telstar that managed to score the equalizer. The Superboeren expected the ball to be played over the sideline due to an injury, but Telstar’s attackers thought differently, after which Eddahchouri shot the 2-2 past Smits.
All in all, De Graafschap had the most chances, but due to sloppy play, Telstar still managed to keep a point in Velsen-Zuid.
