Mexico City.-The Mexican Association of Pharmaceutical Research Industries (AMIIF) called for the approval of the update of several vaccines, as they do not allow thousands of Mexicans to have the necessary immunity against various diseases such as Covid-19 and influenza.
Through a statement, the AMIFF stated that the Mexican health system has outdated vaccines and those that are offered free of charge, as in the current winter campaign launched by the IMSS Bienestar, “are insufficient and even sterile due to the delay in innovation in this matter.”
Regarding the Abdala and Sputnik vaccines against Covid-19 provided by the federal government, the association pointed out “that they are outdated for the new variants and create false security among the population,” since “this virus was modified and is now transmitted more easily.” ”.
Thus, after calling for no Mexican to be left with the necessary immunization, the AMIFF pointed out that innovation in vaccines “is an ally arm in the prevention and health of Mexicans.”
Likewise, he warned that “Mexico is experiencing a health emergency derived from the flooding in Acapulco due to Hurricane John, which has resurfaced concerns about dengue infections. Likewise, the cold season is approaching, causing viruses such as Respiratory Syncytial Reemergence and putting the health of Mexicans at risk.”
The AMIIF indicated that it seeks to collaborate with the Mexican government “and we call so that no Mexican is left with the necessary immunization to be able to face the health challenges that lie ahead.”
