Missiles fired from Iran fly over the Upper Galilee, northern Israel, October 1, 2024.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEL AVIV – Jeremy Loffredo, 28, an independent American journalist, was arrested by the Israeli police. He was deemed a national security risk after reporting the location of the crash Iranian missiles in attacks launched earlier this month, including the IDF’s Nevatim Air Base and intelligence centers in central Israel.
In his report, Loffredo said the attack on Gaza was launched from the Nevatim base and said the private jet used by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was there.
As reported Internetthe police also arrested Loffredo on charges of aiding the enemy during the war and providing information to the enemy.
Her arrest has raised concerns about a possible diplomatic incident between Israel and the US due to her status as a foreign journalist. Representatives from the US Embassy were present at the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court for a hearing on the police’s request to extend his detention.
“He published the information openly and completely, without trying to hide anything. If this information was a way of helping the enemy, many other journalists in Israel, including the Israeli press, to be arrested as well,” said lawyer Leah Tsemel who represented him in his defense.
“A spy wouldn’t work so openly and openly like that.”
Targeting journalists
Loffredo’s arrest is just one of many crimes committed by Israel against journalists. In addition to arrests, the Zionist regime has targeted journalists and reporters who covered events related to crimes committed by the regime in the Gaza War, including disturbances in Jabalia refugee camp.
Israeli soldiers attack a group of journalists in northern Gaza, killing one and injuring a camera operator AlgeriaFadi al-Wahidi, seriously injured in the neck.
