League of Nations. The double gave Haaland a place in history
The Norwegian media have no doubt that it was a “historic evening in Oslo”. The 24-year-old Haaland scored the 33rd and 34th goals in his 36th appearance for the national team, overtaking Joergen Juve, who with 33 goals was the national team’s best scorer for over 90 years.
“It’s something historic, it’s something big. A fantastic record. I’m really happy,” admitted the Manchester City striker.
Later, he published a photo on social media from an empty stadium in a national team shirt with the ball under it and with his thumb in his mouth. This could only mean one thing – the footballer would become a father for the first time.
“Coming soon,” he announced, adding a baby emoticon.
“It’s his big day, we’re happy for him. He has reasons to be very happy. I think being a father will be even more important to him than scoring goals,” said teammate Morten Thorsby from the national team.
