Bouna, October 12, 2024 (AIP)–The town of Bouna will soon benefit from a fecal sludge treatment plant, as part of the Water and Sanitation Security Support Project (PASEA), announced, Friday October 11, 2024, Linares Esse, head of the environmental and social unit of the project.
This infrastructure aims to put an end to the anarchic dumping of wastewater from septic tanks, said Ms. Esse during a meeting at the Bouna prefecture. “In the absence of suitable facilities, this water is discharged into nature, with harmful consequences for the environment and the health of populations,” she stressed.

A mission composed of officials from the National Environment Agency (ANDE), the National Sanitation and Drainage Office (ONAD), as well as the project coordination unit, visited several likely sites. to accommodate the infrastructure. The final choice, which will concern a five-hectare plot of land, will depend on environmental criteria, in particular the proximity of a watercourse.
The work will begin after the finalization of the environmental and social impact study planned in the coming months.
