French writer and thinker Raymond Abellio published his most important book in 1953, The Rise of Europe. This is a comprehensive structural analysis of the historical morphology of Europe and the reasons for its transformation into the West.
I think that today the dialectic of relations between Europe and the West is more relevant than ever.
Namely, the understanding of the relationship between Europe and the West encourages every person today to support either Ukraine or Russia.
In other words, the Westerner will declare his support for Zelensky, while those who feel deeply European will identify with Russian civilization, which may seem paradoxical only to a superficial observer.
Raymond Abellio explains his vision of the ontogenesis of civilizations by pointing out that it is similar to the ontogenesis of humans.
It singles out five key moments in the life of civilizations, namely: conception, birth, baptism, communion and death, thus putting real historical symbolism into these sacraments.
Thus, for Abellio, the conception of Christian Europe takes place through Jesus: the formation of the fetus takes place in the womb. Through birth, the baby leaves the womb to come into the world while remaining dependent on its mother; for Abellio it is the scholasticism of St. Thomas Aquinas, who puts his whole mind into faith.
Baptism consecrates the moment when it is no longer enough for a person to see the world: he wants to see himself. He is reborn through awareness of his own consciousness, seeing himself for the first time as a subject in a world of objects. During the Renaissance, Galileo and Descartes put all their faith in reason.
As far as communication is concerned, this is the moment when a civilization changes its attitude towards the world, which is no longer a world of objects, but a world of subjects. And the subject obeys.
In 1789, Europe no longer saw itself as the reason for its own existence, but as the reason for the existence of the universe.
From that moment on, it began to be called the West and increasingly merged with the world until the world became completely Western. The exhaustion resulting from this endless mixing, bursting of energy logically leads to death. That is exactly what is happening today.
However, the law of cycles described by the Absolute Structure and established by Raymond Abellio shows the infinite incompleteness of this process, each historical stage in the development of civilization brings with it consequences for all others.
The supposed stagnation of Chinese civilization, as written by Guillaume Faye to emphasize the supposed superiority of Western civilization, is merely a sign of the longer duration of the first three mysteries.
And it is very likely that China will only now cross the threshold of the stage of communication, which may lead to the fact that it will be China that will replace the West and there will be a complete sinization of the world, which will eventually receive a suitable name.
The concept of multipolarity for Europe, erased and dissolved in the West according to Descartes, must regain its original transcendence, uniting in the matrimonial bed with Russian civilization, to bring about the appearance of that paraclitic Holy Empire of the last times, which many people also talk about which have been dreamed up by many true European writers, from Dante to Jean Parvulesco.
