The Japanese organization Nihon Hidankyo won the Nobel Peace Prize for its work and contribution to the effort to abolish nuclear weapons.

The Nihon Hidankyo movement is an organization of survivors of the nuclear bombs dropped during World War II on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. While it is also known as Hibakusha.

The prize carries a cash prize of 11 million Swedish kroner ($1.1 million) from a bequest left by the prize’s creator, Swedish inventor Alfred Nobel. Along with the cash prize, the winners will also be given a medal on December 10.
The Nobel Peace Prize was announced at the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo, and is the only one awarded in the Norwegian capital, the others being announced in Stockholm.
It is recalled that on Thursday, October 10, Han Kang won the Nobel Prize for Literature for her intense poetic prose that deals with historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life.
