How to get around the Reims Champagne Race? Much of the city was closed to traffic

The multi-run races that take place on Saturday October 12 and Sunday October 13 as part of the Reims Champagne Run include several traffic restrictions and parking restrictions in several areas of the city of Reims and the surrounding area. Here is an overview of the axes covered by municipal ordinances.

This is the last stretch before one of the most famous races in a coronation town. Almost 17,000 athletes, children and adults, will be warming up their sneakers, collecting their precious bib, and doing more training before starting, from Saturday 12 October, one of the five races at Reims Champagne Run.

Others – those not taking part and still spending the weekend in Reims – would do well to read this article because if they plan to use the cars, here’s what ‘ they need to know about the traffic restrictions.

The new Reims Champagne Run formula (from 2023, editor’s note) caters for all ages and levels. Five races will be held over the weekend of October 12 and 13:

  • The Holy Path alone and in relay. depart at 8am on Saturday 12 October from CREPS – Route de Bezannes.
  • Race of the P’tits Rèmes. Departs from 2pm on Saturday 12th October at Parc de Champagne.
  • The Semi des Rois. depart at 8:30 am on Sunday October 13 from Porte de Mars.
  • Remus’ 10K. Departure at 11:30 am Sunday 13 October from Porte de Mars.
  • The MatMut 5K. Departs Sunday 13 October at 10:45am from Parc de Champagne.

All races, with the exception of the Sacré Trail which goes around the Montagne de Reims, take place mainly in Reims and part of the urban area.

Departure and arrival points

Regarding the departure and arrival points (the Porte de Mars esplanade welcomes the arrival of all races), parking will be prohibited. Saturday 12 October at 8pm and until Sunday 13 at 6pm.on the streets mentioned below:

→ Rue Olivier Metra, from rue du Temple to boulevard Lundy.

→ Boulevard Lundy, from rue Olivier Metra to Place de la République.

→ Rue de la Tirelire, from number 18 to Boulevard Foch.

→ Boulevard Foch, from rue Thiers to rue du Général Sarrail.

→ Rue Henri IV, from Boulevard Desaubeau to EP n ° 17.

Please note, the Boulingrin car park will be closed from 3pm.

For courses 5, 10 and 21 km

For the course of the events, vehicle parking will be restricted at the same times as the start and finish areas (October 12th from 8pm to October 13th at 6pm).

The urban area is also affected, because in Cormontreuil, several streets are affected by bans and restrictions:

Car parking is prohibited not only on the main roads, but also in the main car parks that the people of Rémois visit.

Therefore, all the car parks on rue Philippe, put Lenoncourt (except lawn caravans), around René Tys center, Auguste Delaune stadium and Léo Lagrange park, Chabaud – Clovis 2, Place des Martyrs de la Resistance, and Place du Forum will be banned from Saturday at 8pm to Sunday at 6pm.
