Refusal of a safe-conduct letter for Paweł Szopa
At the beginning of the week, the court did not agree to a letter of safe conduct for Paweł Szopa, which was requested by his attorney. The letter was intended to allow the accused to participate in the criminal proceedings free of charge until their final conclusion.

– Remaining free and responding freely does not guarantee that the accused will not, for example, incite someone to give false testimony or will not leave his/her established place of residence in the country, said the prosecutor, quoted by Polsat News.
– The defense does not agree with this, there will be a substantive polemic in the complaint to the appellate court. Our Client I want to give explanations, I want to appear, I want to talk, I want to present these events from the time these contracts were concluded and I cannot understand why the prosecutor’s office, by filing unconstitutional objections, is doing everything to prevent this. – said attorney Jacek Dubois.
The case of Paweł Szopa
Let us recall: at the end of August, the prosecutor’s office announced that Paweł Szopa and Michał K. had been charged in a case involving the government’s Strategic Reserves Agency. – I can only state generally that this is an accusation of participating in an organized criminal group and an accusation of exceeding powers and failing to fulfill duties in order to obtain financial benefits.j – said prosecutor Nowak in an interview with Polsat News.
As reported by the National Prosecutor’s Office, the subject of the investigation concerns, among others: committing, in the period from February 23, 2021 to November 27, 2023 in Warsaw, in order to obtain a financial benefit, exceeding the powers and failure to fulfill obligations by persons who are employees of the Government Agency of Strategic Reserves when organizing and processing the purchase of goods for the above-mentioned. Agency, and thus acting to the detriment of the public interest, i.e. an act under Art. 231 § 2 of the Penal Code
Michał K. and Paweł Szopa are the next suspects in this case. In July 2024, the first charges were brought against people holding managerial positions in the RARS Purchasing Office.
