On Wednesday morning, a single-family home was broken into in Unterseen and a car was stolen.
On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at around 4:10 a.m., the Bern cantonal police received a report that a car had been stolen from the forecourt of a single-family home on Gurbenstrasse in Unterseen and had now driven off in an unknown direction.
Several patrols immediately searched for the stolen car, which was finally brought to a standstill using a nail barrier during a police check in Hünibach (Municipality of Hilterfingen). After the standstill, the four occupants fled on foot in different directions. With the help of a drone and a service dog from the Bern cantonal police, two young suspects were stopped in Hünibach and two more near Thun train station.
The four accused, aged 15 and 16, were taken to a police station for further investigation and temporarily arrested. According to current findings, they sneaked into the single-family home, stole the car key and used it to steal the parked car. The young people were released after the investigations. They will have to answer to the judiciary once the investigation is completed.
