Szopa and the former head of RARS, Michał K., the prosecutor’s office wants to bring charges of participation in an organized criminal group, exceeding powers and failing to fulfill duties in order to obtain financial benefits.

Michał K. and Paweł Szopa were supposed to be detained for investigation and charged at the beginning of August – but by then they were no longer in the country. According to the prosecutor’s office, both of them escaped and are hiding. According to their defenders, Michał K. went to London for work, and Paweł Szopa decided not to return from vacation after “a campaign against him in the media.”

Michał K. is awaiting extradition to Poland in British custody, and Paweł Szopa is wanted on an international arrest warrant. On Tuesday, October 8, the District Court in Warsaw dismissed the request of the suspect’s defense lawyer to issue a safe-conduct for him. Thanks to him, he would return to Poland and would answer freely in the investigation.
