A combative and successful warning strike by the money and value industry took place in Munich today. 300 organized members took part in the rally and demonstration. A total of over 500 employees took part in the strike action, which lasted from midnight on September 30th until midnight on October 1st, 2024.
The highlight of the campaign was a central rally and demonstration in Munich, in which 300 cash and valuables transporters from all over Bavaria took part. The strikers were particularly motivated to loudly represent their demands and take to the streets. One of the chants was “By day I’m a millionaire, by evening my pockets are empty.” We go home as beggars, the offer is a horror.” The employers’ inadequate offer in the second round of negotiations had made the employees even more determined.
Sandra Kasunić, union secretary and meeting leader, emphasized: “The unity, solidarity and, above all, the will to fight of our colleagues demonstrated during the first wave of warning strikes in Bavaria sends a clear message to employers: ‘We take our demands seriously and are on the streets for a serious offer.’ And if this doesn’t happen, we are definitely preparing for further strikes.”
The ver.di union sees the high turnout and determination of the strikers as a great success. The employees are demanding significant improvements in their working conditions and appropriate remuneration that does justice to their responsible work.
Negotiations between the union and employers will continue on October 17th and 18th, 2024 in Munich.
