Texcoco, Mex. Artists and cultural promoters from the Taller de Arte Múltiple AC denounced the lack of political will of the municipal government to open cultural spaces and its refusal to let them occupy the main garden esplanade to carry out their activities.

Aura Lina Cuevas Valdés, cultural creator and researcher, pointed out that the city council has maintained a refusal to allow artists to work in public spaces because they run away from them.

“What we want is to make public space a space where there can be recreation for society as an alternative to social and emotional problems because art can contribute my Chi to that issue.”

“We want there to be a cultural program every month where we are influencing the population and above all using public spaces as a community meeting point,” he said.

He maintained that they have had talks with the authorities to be able to influence the municipal side and change the regulations that prohibit the use of the garden because it violates the rights of the artists.

Also, the organization of the Multiple Art Workshop sent a document to Nelly Minerva Carrasco Godínez, Head of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the state of Mexico; to request the creation of proposals to integrate into the Municipal Culture Regulations, a series of guidelines focused on providing guarantees of participation and access to benefits for the local artistic and cultural community.

“In that sense we have experienced a lack of political will on the part of municipal public servants, as well as visualized and documented a series of circumstances and needs of the union, which leads us to approach you, since promoting our initiative are artists and promoters of others. municipalities such as Chimalhuacán, Atenco, Tecámac, Tepetlaoxtoc and Otumba.”

They proposed creating an annual program of activities to be able to integrate with the different festivals coordinated by independent cultural managers.

Some of these meetings are the Obsidian Wind Interdisciplinary Meeting in Texcoco in October, the International Meeting of Indigenous Languages ​​in San Jerónimo Amanalco in March, the Flower and Song Festival in Atenco in May, among others.

In addition, they asked for the Young Art and Culture Screening once a month, to promote young artists and students in public spaces and for society to enjoy and support their new talents.
