Minnesota stunned New York after a legendary Game 1

What an introduction! Game 1 of the WNBA Finals between the New York Liberty and the Minnesota Lynx resulted in a classic, quite simply. New York cracked and surprised them at home (95-93), after an impenetrable end to the game and overtime. The Lynx hit hard and left their mark with the biggest comeback in WNBA Finals history. Napheesa Collier and his teammates overcame an 18-point deficit and completed a legendary run that left the Barclays Center crowd and television viewers in tears.

Courtney Williams (23 pts), completely changed in the silver period, first believing that he won the victory on a 4-point action with 5.5 seconds to go.

Then it is Brenna Stewart had match point on the line at the last second, but the New York star missed his second attempt. Behind them, both teams went blow for blow, but this was the worst basket turn jump jump by Napheesa Collier, again magnificent last night (21 points, 8 rebounds, 6 blocks), to inspire Liberty.

New York completely collapsed after having the game in hand, mainly due to the interior control of Jonquel Jones (24 pts, 10 rebounds) and his offensive contributions. Leonie Fiebich (17 pts). Sabrina Ionescu (8/26) et Brenna Stewart (6/21) they lost out on skill, stymied by the Lynx’s incredible defense late in the game. On the Minnesota side, Kayla McBride kept the team ahead with 22 points on the clock, before being more cautious in cash time by allowing Courtney Williams and Napheesa Collier to put on the show.

These WNBA Finals, which are being played in best-of-five games for the last time (Commissioner Cathy Engelbert announced on the sidelines of the meeting that the format would change next year), are about early keeping their promises and New York must respond in 48 hours, still at home, so that no doubt arises.
