/ world today news/ A Turk filed a lawsuit against his wife for insulting President Recep Erdogan, Turkish media reported.
Ali D., 40, a truck driver, explained that he had repeatedly warned his wife not to insult the president. They have been married for three years. But the wife approached the warnings with disdain and continued to speak negatively about the head of state.
For now, it is not clear whether there will be and when the case will be scheduled. In his complaint, the man wrote that his wife either made bad comments about the president or changed the channel when he appeared on television.
According to other local media, the 38-year-old woman has already filed for divorce.
The case comes amid growing concern about the lack of freedom of expression in Turkey. In the country, there are cases of journalists, bloggers and even schoolchildren who are facing court for insulting Erdogan. /AFP
