Sheinbaum does not contemplate meeting with Biden soon

“I do not plan to meet soon” with the president of the United States, Joe Biden, said President Claudia Sheinbuam Pardo. He said that in the call they had on Friday the 4th, “(that) was not raised in particular, but rather the meeting between the ambassador (Ken Salazar) and the foreign minister (Juan Ramón de la Fuente), this week” in the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs, and “return to some important coordination issues.”

In her press conference at the National Palace, the president specified that Ambassador Salazar’s visits to the former President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, were suspended “due to the action in Sinaloa, where the Mexican government was never consulted, nor was coordinated”, for the arrest of Ismael May Zambada and Joaquín Guzmán López, one of the sons of El Chapo Guzman.

He said that it was “an action that, until now, we still do not have all the information about how that arrest occurred.”

On Monday, September 30, Biden, who will leave office in January 2025, said during a ceremony at the White House that he would soon meet with the president of Mexico.

However, the president today specified that she will wait for the elections in that country to pass. “Today there is the election in the United States, of which we are very respectful. Of course the coordination is with President Biden and (this) will continue.”

He explained that November 5 is the US election and “then they take their time for qualification. We are going to be very respectful of what is happening in the United States and this coordination is maintained,” he insisted.
