City Harvest is celebrating 20 years of the mobile markets programme

City Harvest is celebrating 20 years of the Mobile Markets program with free deliveries of nutritious food to food insecure New Yorkers at Prince Hall Masonic Church.

The program, launched in 2004, offers fresh foods from farmers markets directly to residents of five cities.

Since the program began under the organization, City Harvest, they have received one million visits and have expanded throughout the city.

Traveling Markets have distributed nearly 41 million pounds of nutritious food, and in the past year, the program has distributed more than 3.1 million pounds of free food, serving more than 111,000 households.

According to a recent report from City Harvest, visits to these sites have increased, with an average monthly increase of 82 percent compared to 2019.
