(10/10/2024) Suspicion of attempted homicide.

On the afternoon of Tuesday (October 8th, 2024) there was an attack on the Mainkai in Frankfurt am Main by a 27-year-old German citizen against a 28-year-old woman, also a German citizen, as a result of which the woman suffered serious injuries. The suspect was immediately arrested.

The victim was in a café in the immediate vicinity of the Eiserner Steg at the time of the attack. At around 5:10 p.m., the suspect is said to have approached the 28-year-old, suddenly attacked her and injured her neck with a razor blade. Due to the woman’s resistance and the intervention of a witness, the attacker let go of her and fled to a nearby church. Police officers arrested him there without resistance. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The Frankfurt am Main public prosecutor’s office brought the suspect before the investigating judge at the Frankfurt am Main district court on suspicion of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm, who will have to decide whether to issue a detention order. (HP/ots)
